Douglas Motorsport is delighted to welcome the return of Andrew Watson for the 2014 Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup.
Graduating as a race winner from the Ginetta Junior Championship in 2012, Tyrone native Watson showed his impressive pace right from the beginning of the 2013 season, with a front row start at round one in Brands Hatch. He made his podium debut at just round seven in Thruxton, with two further podium finishes coming at Knockhill and at the season finale at Brands Hatch. Watson ended the 2013 season seventh overall in the championship.
Now, with a year’s experience under his belt, combined with a new car and a strong pre-season testing plan, Watson is setting his sights firmly on lifting this year’s title.
He said: “I gained a huge amount of experience in my rookie season in the Supercup and am looking forward to being able to put that to good use when the 2014 season gets underway at Brands Hatch.”
“The team and I have big ambitions for this year, but I am feeling confident about what we can achieve this season and am looking forward to getting behind the wheel for the first race.”
Team Principal Wayne Douglas is also delighted to welcome Andrew back to the team for their fourth year working together: “We’re delighted to have Andrew back for the Ginetta GT4 SuperCup this year. Right from round one last year he was very impressive and I have no doubt we can win this year. I firmly believe I’ve now got one of the strongest driver pairings on the grid with Andrew and Harry and we’re really looking forward to the opening round in Brands Hatch.”
