Newly crowned 2013 Dunlop Motorsport Ireland Young Racing Driver of the Year Niall Murray is eagerly awaiting the start of the 2014 Formula Ford Season.
Having been awarded a fully funded season in the Motorsport Ireland, Dunlop and Irish Sports Council Van Dieman Formula Ford run by Bernard Dolan, Murray is keen to improve on his debut Formula Ford Season in 2013 and his aim is to take championship victory. “The team and car are new to me so I’m really looking forward to getting my testing programme under way for the new season”.
Having won a very dramatic and hard fought Brands Hatch Formula Ford Festival in October, Murray’s efforts last season haven’t gone unnoticed by several new personal sponsors for the 2014 season. “I’m delighted to welcome Stilo and OMP as two new sponsors for 2014. I’ve got a fantastic new Stilo ST4F-N 8860 helmet which has been painted by Piers Dowell who turned out a really cool design for me in the end. OMP are just finishing off a new custom designed race suit featuring all my major sponsors”. Adding to this support is returning sponsors for 2014, CL Brakes, SuperB Lithium Batteries and Schroth. Having supported Murray in 2013, they have extended their partnership for another season, something Niall is very happy with: “I’m really happy that these suppliers have come on board for another season. I’ve used their products throughout last year and I find them easily the best available and I certainly feel they helped me along the way to such a successful season in 2013.”
Niall will be competing in three Irish Formula Ford Championships this season including the All Ireland Formula Ford Championship, Northern Ireland Formula Ford Championship and the Champion of Mondello Series in 2014. His first event will be the opening two rounds of the Champion of Mondello Series at Mondello Park on Sunday 16th March. Both of these races will be televised live on Mondello Park’s new web tv station www.mondello.tv
