2012 Ginetta Junior Team Champions Douglas Motorsport, have today announced that they will step up to the Ginetta GT Supercup for the 2013 season. Having proven to be one of the best teams in the Junior paddock in 2012, Team Principal Wayne Douglas is confident they can continue this form.
First to sign up with Douglas Motorsport and continue his successful partnership from 2012 will be Ginetta Junior front runner Andrew Watson. The young Northern Irish driver graduated from the Ginetta Junior Ireland championship and showed from early on in the season that he was capable of mixing it with some of the more experienced drivers. From the mid-point in the season onwards, Watson was a regular on the podium with his best result at Silverstone where a fantastic battle with Championship leader Charlie Robertson earned him his debut win of the season. Stepping up to the Ginetta GT Supercup in a G55, Andrew will be hoping to pickup where he left off and emulate so many other Junior graduates to success in this championship.
Speaking about the announcement was Team Principal, Wayne Douglas, “We’re really looking forward to our move into the Ginetta GT Supercup. Its great to have Andrew continue with us in 2013. We’ve worked really well together since he joined our driver development programme back in 2010 and this shows just how well our programme works for drivers like Andrew. We are hoping to announce a second driver within our team in the next couple of weeks and will be aiming to make just as big an impact in this championship as we did in Juniors last year”.
