Current Avon Tyres British GT4 Champion Rick Parfitt Jnr feels he is in the best possible position to retain his 2013 crown approaching the opening weekend of the championship at Oulton Park.

In 2013, Parfitt Jnr made his British GT podium debut during the championship’s opening weekend just behind his then rival’s Century Motorsport at Oulton Park before going on to win the title later in the year at the final round in Donington Park. Having now joined Century Motorsport to aid his title defence in a newer Ginetta G55 GT4, he feels this is going to be another great season: “The pre-season has been difficult for me as I have been so busy gigging, however I managed to get two days in the car at Oulton Park and felt straight at home. Tom and I showed good pace at the Media day in Donington Park last week and it was fun seeing all the cars together for the first time. I think this will be a great season!”

As well as a new co-driver in Tom Oliphant, Rick is joined by a host of new and existing sponsors to support his title defence in 2014. “Tom and I have been getting on great and showed that we can be really competitive at the Media day, finishing the final session in second place just behind the Porsche. I am so excited to have so many great sponsors supporting my racing, I almost look like a NASCAR driver! But I wouldn’t be here without them and I hope they will enjoy the season as much as I plan to!”

The 2014 Avon Tyres British GT Championship begins with rounds one and two at Oulton Park on Saturday 19th April.
