Fresh from having an all but certain GT4 race victory taken from him due to wishbone failure at Donington park at the final round of the 2014 Avon Tyres British GT4 Championship, Aleksander Schjerpen will make his Ginetta GT4 Supercup debut at Silverstone this weekend for rounds 23, 24 and 25 of the series.
The Norwegian has impressed Team Boss Nathan Freke at Century Motorsport this year as he made his debut in British GT4 with co-driver Morten Dons. Despite neither driver having raced in the UK before, they secured two podium finishes during their first season together.
With the British GT Championship finishing at Donington Park, Aleksander was keen to try out a full Supercup specification Ginetta G55 at the Northamptonshire circuit. Joining Tom Oliphant fresh from his grandstand finish at Rockingham to third in the final race of the weekend by a mere three hundredths of a second, the team will be looking to continue their podium run.
Aleksander Schjerpen:
“I am really excited about racing in the GT4 Supercup! I love working with all the guys in Century Motorsport, so when I got the offer to do the Supercup with them I was really excited. I am happy to have sponsors that allow me to do the race at Silverstone, and hopefully we can have a good result there as well.
For sure it will be different from racing in the British GT, but I see it as a great opportunity to try out something different.”
Nathan Freke – Team Principal, Century Motorsport:
“Aleksander has been very impressive in British GT this year. Each circuit we visited was new to him but he still managed to secure two podium finishes with his co-driver Morten. The Supercup car is obviously a little different to the British GT car, but without any of the Balance of Performance restrictions that have hampered the G55 in British GT this year it should be a very good experience for Aleksander.”
